YB&B Book Club

Progress & Proceed got to be a part of the YB&B (Young Black & Brilliant’s) fall kickoff for 2026 - 2027. YB&B is a youth book club, and their mission is to foster personal growth and positive social connections among youth through literacy enrichment, leadership development, life skills, and community engagement.

Everyone who attended, including students, teachers, and even educators, went around during a scavenger hunt and had to stop by each booth. At our booth, Progress & Proceed, we were teaching a little bit about entrepreneurship, and we gave these three tips to starting a new business.

1.) Start with what you have and do what you can. You have to start somewhere.

2.) Make sure you believe in your service or product so much that you can speak to any and everyone about it.

3.) Be ready to serve others. When you do something, do it right! Even in times of inconvenience.

Afterwards, there was a raffle drawing giveaway. They were tested on what they learned from all the booths, and it was so good to be able to talk to everyone about our mission and the simple message to progress and proceed with true integrity. Every student walked away with a t-shirt, and parents walked away with a book! Everyone walked away and understood that the foundation to success has got to be built on your integrity!
